| U.S. prosecutors again diplomat Khobragade | | By Joseph Ax NEW YORK (Reuters) - A grand jury in New York has returned a new indictment against Indian diplomat Devyani Khobragade for visa fraud, two days after a U.S. judge dismissed a similar indictment because she had diplomatic immunity. Khobragade's arrest last December and a subsequent strip search drew outrage in India, causing a major diplomatic rift between the United States and India. Khobragade's lawyer, Daniel Arshack, did not immediately comment on the new indictment, which effectively returns the case to where it was before Wednesday's dismissal.

| 7,000 kg ammonium nitrate seized in Rajasthan | | | Jaipur, March 15 (IANS) About 7,000 kg of explosive ammonium nitrate that was to be used for blasting in in illegal mining in Rajasthan's Alwar was seized Friday, police said. Superintendent of Police Vikas Kumar said that the seizure was made from Chopanaki area in Alwar district, some 150 km from Jaipur. "Illegal mining is a major issue in some parts of the district and police have launched a campaign against it. On a tip-off, we raided an abandoned makeshift house from where we recovered 140 bags of ammonium nitrate weighing around 7,000 kg. |

On day 10 of the trial, Colonel Schoombie Van Rensburg, the first policeman to arrive at Pistorius' home in an upmarket Pretoria estate, expressed his anger at forensic blunders but had his own work called into question by the defence. Van Rensburg said the missing watch was one of eight found in the house.

| Kashmir youth killed in security force firing, probe ordered | | | Srinagar, March 14 (IANS) A youth was killed in firing by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district Friday after a clash with protesters, police said. The youth, identified as Farhat Ahmad Dar, was killed when an agitating mob tried to torch a police vehicle that was trying to chase away protesters in Naidkhai area of Bandipora during stone pelting during protests after the Friday prayers. The Bandipora district magistrate ordered a magisterial probe into the incident. "A time-bound magisterial probe has been ordered by district magistrate into the death of Farhat Ahmad Dar, son of Gulam Rasool Dar, resident of Shahgund Naidkhai, in a firing incident today (Friday)," a senior state government official said here. |

The incident occurred when the student was returning to her home in south Delhi from Barakhamba Road area of central Delhi March 8. According to her complaint, the victim, who is pursuing her internship in Delhi, said she took an auto around 10 p.m. from near Max Muller Bhawan to reach her rented accommodation in Greater Kailash. On the way, the auto-rickshaw driver halted the vehicle on the pretext of searching for some tools which, he said, were kept beneath the rear seat and then began touching her indecently. |

Justice Utkarsh Bakre said at this stage the CCTV footage "does not help the applicant prove his innocence". "Suffice it to say, that the CCTV footage prima facie does not help the applicant prove his innocence, since it did not cover the incident inside the lift," Bakre's order reads. Tejpal, who has been accused of raping a then junior employee in an elevator, has claimed in his earlier statements to the media that the CCTV footage alone was enough to prove his innocence. |
