| Indian aircraft join search for missing Malaysian plane | | | New Delhi, March 23 (IANS) Two Indian aircraft Sunday began a search for the missing Malaysian airliner MH370, following a commitment from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to assist Malaysia, the government said Sunday. The two aircraft - one P8-I of the Indian Navy and one C-130J of the Indian Air Force - reached Malaysia March 21 to assist the country in locating the missing plane. "After extensive briefings at the Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Centre (ARCC) established by Malaysia, both Indian aircraft took off this morning (Sunday) for the search areas," said a statement from the external affairs ministry. |
| Dowry law cannot be harassment tool, says court | | | New Delhi, March 23 (IANS) A court here has observed that dowry prohibition law cannot be allowed to become a tool for harassment. Granting relief to a man, who was booked in a dowry harassment case by his wife, the court ordered investigation against the complainant for filing a false case. The man's wife in July 2012 filed a first information report (FIR) against him in a South Delhi police station, alleging that he demanded dowry and subjected her to cruelty, which resulted in her miscarriage. Metropolitan Magistrate Shivani Chauhan, accepting the cancellation report of Delhi Police, said Sections 498A (subjecting woman to cruelty) and 406 (criminal breach of trust) and Dowry Prohibition Act are special legislations enacted for the "protection of women" and have serious penal consequence for the offender. |
| Four suspected terrorists held | | | New Delhi, March 23 (IANS) Four suspected Indian Mujahideen operatives, who were allegedly planning to carry out terror attacks during the coming election, have been arrested from Rajasthan, Delhi Police said Sunday. The men were identified as Waqas, Waqar Azhar, Mohammad Mahroof and Saquib Ansari, Special Commissioner S.M. Srivastava said here. Waqas disclosed the hideout of his associates," Srivastava said. The Special Cell of Delhi Police and the Rajasthan Anti Terrorism Squad arrested the men named by Waqas from Jaipur and Jodhpur Saturday. |
