| Egypt's Sisi wins presidential election with more than 90 pct of vote | |  By Yasmine Saleh and Michael Georgy CAIRO (Reuters) - CAIRO, May 29 (Reuters) - Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the general who toppled Egypt's first freely elected leader, took more than 90 percent of the vote in a presidential election, provisional results showed on Thursday, as he joined a long line of leaders drawn from the military. Sisi won 93.3 percent of votes cast, judicial sources said, as counting neared its conclusion after three days of voting. His only rival, leftist politician Hamdeen Sabahi, gained 3 percent while 3.7 percent of votes were declared void. Turnout was 44.4 percent of Egypt's 54 million voters, judicial sources said, less than the 40 million votes, or 80 percent of the electorate, that Sisi had called for last week and also less than the 52 percent turnout Mohamed Mursi won in the 2012 presidential election.

| Hagel to make decisions on Guantanamo detainees 'fairly soon' | |  By David Brunnstrom ANCHORAGE Alaska (Reuters) - - U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said on Wednesday he will make decisions fairly soon about detainees at Guantanamo Bay detention center who Uruguay has offered to accept. U.S. President Barack Obama's administration wants to close the center in Cuba used to imprison people captured after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on the United States and has been talking to several countries about relocating inmates. Guantanamo, criticized by human rights groups, has prisoners that have been held for a decade or longer without being charged or given a trial. Opened by President George W. Bush in 2002 to hold suspects rounded up overseas, Guantanamo became a symbol of the excesses of his "war on terror." Hagel said he was taking his time in reaching a decision about six detainees Obama had discussed with Uruguayan President Jose Mujica, as well as other detainees, in order to be sure that releasing them was the responsible thing to do.

| Prankster hits Brad Pitt in the face at "Maleficent" premiere | |  (Reuters) - An infamous red carpet prankster struck actor Brad Pitt in the face as he signed autographs at the Hollywood premiere of a film starring his partner Angelina Jolie on Wednesday, police said. Pitt, a Golden Globe-winning actor, was at the premiere of "Maleficent", at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood, California, when Vitalii Sediuk leaped over a fence and hit him, said Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Gus Villanueva. Pitt was not seriously hurt and authorities quickly subdued Sediuk, who was arrested for misdemeanor battery and remained in police custody on Wednesday night, Villanueva said.
