China indicts eight in Beijing attack, offers rewards for guns

Three people in the car and two bystanders were killed in the attack which the government blamed on separatist militants from the western region of Xinjiang. The procuratorate of Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang, accused the eight of "organizing, leading and participating (in) a terrorist group and endangering public security with dangerous method", Xinhua news agency said. China is waging a year-long anti-terrorism campaign and has focused on Xinjiang, home to a large Muslim Uighur minority, following a series of bloody attacks that Beijing blames on Islamists and separatists from the region.




Chinese national freed after two months in captivity

Two women, including a Chinese national, who were kidnapped on the Malaysian island of Borneo in early April have been freed with no ransom demanded by the abductors, Malaysian media reported. The two women, a Chinese tourist and a Philippine hotel worker, were released from an island in the southern Philippines by the Abu Sayyaf terrorist group on Friday, The Star reported. Philippine police then took a speedboat to transfer the women to Malaysian waters. Success due to cooperation of Malaysia and Philippines security forces," Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak wrote in a post on Twitter late on Friday.

Federal investigators are looking into whether Mickelson and Walters may have traded illegally on private information provided by Icahn about his investments in public corporations, the source told Reuters, confirming reports on Friday. Icahn, a legendary activist investor, told Reuters that he was unaware of any investigation and said that his firm always followed the law. He acknowledged a business relationship with Walters but said that he did not know Mickelson personally.

Carl Icahn gives an interview on FOX Business   Network's Neil Cavuto show in New York(Reuters) - Activist investor Carl Icahn said he was unaware of any federal insider-trading investigation involving him and that he had never divulged insider information during his 50 years as an investor. Icahn was responding to reports that the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Securities and Exchange Commission were investigating possible insider trading involving golfer Phil Mickelson, Las Vegas gambler William Walters and himself. "We do not know of any investigation," Icahn told Reuters in a telephone interview on Friday.




NBA moves on Clippers sale, Sterling sues for $1 billion

Clippers owner Sterling sits with companion as he   watches team play Knicks in NBA game in Los AngelesBy Eric Kelsey LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The National Basketball Association said on Friday that it has reached an agreement with the estranged wife of Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling to sell the team, opening a new chapter for the franchise after 33 years under Sterling. Sterling, 80, was banned for life by the NBA for racist remarks in a private conversation that were recorded secretly and leaked to the media while the Clippers were playing in the NBA playoffs. Also on Friday, Sterling sued the NBA and league Commissioner Adam Silver in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles for at least $1 billion. As a result of the settlement, the league canceled its Tuesday hearing to terminate Sterling's ownership, avoiding a vote by NBA owners to consider removing one of their own.
