 By Noah Browning JERUSALEM (Reuters) - The body of an abducted Palestinian youth was found in Jerusalem on Wednesday, raising suspicions he had been killed by Israelis avenging the deaths of three abducted Jewish teens. News of the discovery of 16-year-old Mohammed Abu Khudair, who was last seen being bundled into a van earlier in the day, triggered clashes between rock-throwing Palestinians and Israeli police in the city. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas accused Jewish settlers of killing Abu Khudair and demanded that Israel "mete out the strongest punishment against the murderers if it truly wants peace". Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu urged police "to swiftly investigate who was behind the loathsome murder and its motive".

 By Gregory Blachier and Gérard Bon PARIS (Reuters) - Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy said on Wednesday the legal system was being used for political means after he was put under formal investigation on suspicions of using his influence to gain details of a probe into his 2007 election campaign. The step, which often but not always leads to trial, is a major setback to Sarkozy's hopes of a comeback after his 2012 defeat by Socialist rival Francois Hollande. "I say to all those who are listening or watching that I have never betrayed them and have never committed an act against the Republic's principles and the rule of law," Sarkozy according to extracts of his first interview since losing the 2012 election to be aired on Europe 1 radio later on Wednesday. "The situation is sufficiently serious to tell the French people where we stand on the political exploitation of part of the legal system today." Magistrates are looking at whether Sarkozy used his influence to secure leaked details of an inquiry into alleged irregularities in his victorious 2007 campaign.

 South African Paralympic and Olympic runner Oscar Pistorius has post traumatic stress disorder and is at an increasing risk of suicide, according to a psychiatric report read out at his murder trial on Wednesday. Pistorius, a double amputee athlete, could face life in prison if he is found guilty of murdering his law graduate and model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, whom he shot and killed at his high security home in Pretoria on Feb. 14 last year. His defence team have sought throughout the trial to portray Pistorius as a vulnerable individual who killed 29-year-old Steenkamp accidentally after mistaking her for an intruder hiding behind a closed toilet door. The report went on to say that Pistorius, known as 'Blade Runner' due to the carbon-fibre prosthetics he uses in competition, suffered from post traumatic stress disorder and depression, and would require further psychological treatment.

 By Mirwais Harooni and Hamid Shalizi KABUL (Reuters) - Preliminary results from Afghanistan's presidential election, due to be announced on Wednesday, have been delayed, an election official said, amid accusations of fraud that threaten to split the fragile country along ethnic lines. Votes from around 2,000 polling stations in the June 14 run-off are to be reviewed and recounted, said Sharifa Zurmati Wardak of the Independent Election Commission (IEC). The contest pitted former foreign minister Abdullah Abdullah against former World Bank economist Ashraf Ghani. Ghani's aides, citing election observers, say he is in the lead in the run-off by one million votes.
