Ex-aide to Queen Elizabeth's husband charged with sex offences

A former aide to Prince Philip, husband of Britain's Queen Elizabeth, has been charged with sex offences against a girl in the 1970s, a period he was working for the royal family, prosecutors said on Thursday. Benjamin Herman, 79, is accused of three counts of indecently assaulting a girl aged about 12 and another count of attempted indecent assault between 1972 and 1974.


Hackers can tap USB devices in new attacks, researcher warns

German crypto specialist Nohl of Berlin's SR   Labs is reflected in computer screen in BerlinBy Jim Finkle BOSTON (Reuters) - USB devices such as mice, keyboards and thumb-drives can be used to hack into personal computers in a potential new class of attacks that evade all known security protections, a top computer researcher revealed on Thursday. Karsten Nohl, chief scientist with Berlin's SR Labs, noted that hackers could load malicious software onto tiny, low-cost computer chips that control functions of USB devices but which have no built-in shields against tampering with their code. It is almost like a magic trick," said Nohl, whose research firm is known for uncovering major flaws in mobile phone technology. Nohl said his firm has performed attacks by writing malicious code onto USB control chips used in thumb drives and smartphones.




Dutch, Australian experts attempt to reach Ukraine crash site

Members of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) were also part of a team that was trying to navigate a safe route to the area where the plane went down on July 17, killing all 298 passengers and crew.
