Lebanon detains 450 suspected militants in Syria border crackdown -sources

BEIRUT (Reuters) - Lebanon has detained about 450 suspected Islamist militants near its border with Syria over the past two weeks, Lebanese security sources said on Thursday, as the army steps up efforts to prevent fighters from using the town of Arsal as a base. Arsal was the scene of last month of the deadliest spillover of fighting in the three-year civil war in Syria, and during clashes that killed dozens, militants captured a group of Lebanese soldiers and have since killed at least three of them. British man jailed for blasphemy wounded in Pakistan jail

Muhammad Asghar, from Edinburgh, was arrested in 2010 and sentenced to death in January after a disgruntled tenant presented letters he had written saying he was a prophet. Blasphemy is punishable by death in Muslim-majority Pakistan. A constable shot Asghar in jail in Rawalpindi, next to Islamabad, his lawyers said without elaborating. ...


China currency regulator uncovers $10 billion in fake trades

Suspected Islamist militants charged in Ugandan court
