| Somali pirates have freed seven Indian sailors detained for close to four years in exchange for an undisclosed ransom, Somali officials and a maritime monitoring group said on Friday. At one time the pirates made millions of dollars in ransoms from seizing ships sailing the Horn of Africa nation's waters, but increased patrols by international navies on the Indian Ocean have reduced incidences of piracy. Their captors said at the time that they would only release the seven sailors when their fellow Somali pirates held by Indian authorities were freed. Kenyan-based Ecoterra International, which monitors maritime activity on the Indian Ocean, confirmed the sailors' release. |

The president and the military chief met opposition parties and ethnic minority groups at a roundtable meeting in the capital Naypyitaw, the first meeting of its kind in the Southeast Asian nation. The gathering also marked the first meeting between opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi and powerful armed forces chief, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing. |
| India considers ban on e-cigarettes, sale of single smokes |

 By Aditya Kalra NEW DELHI (Reuters) - India is considering a ban on electronic cigarettes over the risks to public health that they may cause, a senior Health Ministry official told Reuters. The World Health Organization (WHO) in August called for stiff regulation of e-cigarettes as well as bans on indoor use, in the latest bid to control the booming $3 billion global market. Some critics fear they could lead to nicotine addiction and tobacco smoking. India cannot regulate easily," the official added, saying that the government would consider the ban in the next month or two.
