Israeli police arrest suspects in torching of Church of Loaves and Fishes |

Israeli police said on Sunday suspects had been arrested on suspicion of torching a church revered by Christians as the site of Jesus's miracle of the feeding of the 5,000 on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. The suspects were arrested overnight, a police spokeswoman said, following a joint investigation with the Shin Bet internal undercover security agency. The suspects are set to face a remand hearing in the northern city of Nazareth later on Sunday. |
Mexican kingpin "Chapo" Guzman escapes prison for second time |

Mexico's most notorious drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman has escaped from a high security prison in central Mexico, officials said on Sunday, the second time he has given his captors the slip in 15 years. Guzman, who headed Mexico's notorious Sinaloa Cartel and once made it on to Forbes' list of billionaires, was arrested last year. Guzman was seen on video entering a shower area at 8.52 p.m. local time on Saturday, Mexico's national security commission (CNS) said in a statement.

By Gerry Shih BEIJING (Reuters) - Chinese authorities have widened a crackdown on human rights groups, detaining or questioning more than 50 lawyers and activists in a sweep over the past few days, rights groups say. Citing the need to buttress national security and stability, President Xi Jinping's administration has tightened government control over almost every aspect of civil society since 2012. Amnesty International said on Saturday at least 52 lawyers and activists from Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou had been detained or questioned over the previous 48 hours. |
