Despite pledges by the new government of President Maithripala Sirisena to pursue accountability domestically, the criminal justice system is not up to the huge task alone, said the report by the U.N. human rights office.

Hardline opposition leader Lopez was convicted on Thursday of inciting 2014 anti-government protests that led to violence that killed 43 people. "We're vaccinating the fatherland of a 'Pinochet'," socialist leader Maduro said on Tuesday night, referring to former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet.

Attorney Harland Braun said he arranged to have police come to his office on Monday and pick up Warhol prints titled "Siberian Tiger" and "Bighorn Ram," which he said were among three prints his client bought several years ago from a man involved in commercial construction.
