 By Julie Gordon CALGARY, Alberta (Reuters) - The Canadian government on Wednesday said it would go to the Supreme Court to press its case for banning Muslim women's face coverings during citizenship ceremonies, an issue in the election campaign. A federal appeals court on Tuesday found the ban on veils such as the niqab was unlawful. The case was brought by Zunera Ishaq, an immigrant from Pakistan who refused to take part in a citizenship ceremony because it meant she could not wear a niqab and would have to show her face.

| By Mohammed Mukhashaf ADEN, Yemen (Reuters) - Yemeni Prime Minister Khaled Bahah returned to the southern port of Aden on Wednesday in a step towards restoring a government on home soil after months of working from exile with Gulf Arab allies to combat Houthi domination of the country. Government spokesman Rajeh Badi said Bahah, who is also vice president, was accompanied by seven ministers when he arrived in Aden, which loyalist fighters backed by Saudi-led troops recaptured from Iranian-allied Houthi forces in July. "Khaled Bahah and the ministers who arrived with him are in Aden to stay permanently," Badi said. |
