| Saudi security forces shot dead a woman armed with a machine gun during a raid to arrest a man suspected of involvement in attacks on Shi'ite Muslims and on security forces, state news agency SPA reported on Sunday. Saudi Arabia uses the term deviant group to refer to Islamist militants from al Qaeda or Islamic State. Ruwaili was on a list of 16 wanted people published by the kingdom last year in connection with two deadly mosque bombings claimed by Islamic State in May. The authorities offered a cash reward of five million riyals ($1.3 million) for information leading to their arrest. |

By Wiktor Szary WARSAW (Reuters) - Poland's defence minister appeared to suggest the death of president Lech Kaczynski in a 2010 plane crash in western Russia was the result of foul play, an allegation that is likely to test already troubled relations with Moscow. Antoni Macierewicz did not spell out who he suspected, but the comments were made in a passage of his speech referring to a number of events blamed on Russia, including the violence in shared neighbour Ukraine.

| By Aidan Lewis TUNIS (Reuters) - Libya's U.N.-backed Presidential Council called on Saturday on the country's institutions to begin a transfer of authority to a unity government, and appealed to the international community to stop dealing with any rival powers. The Presidential Council is tasked with guiding through a transition to end the political chaos and armed conflict that have plagued Libya since the fall of leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011. Its statement suggests it will seek to take power despite continuing opposition from hardliners in both of Libya's competing parliaments - the eastern House of Representatives (HOR) and the rival General National Congress (GNC) in Tripoli. |

By Isaack Omulo NAIROBI (Reuters) - The Kenyan athletes' representative, Noah Ngeny, has quit his post, saying that the country's sporting authorities were not doing enough to tackle a doping crisis. Kenya is a global leader in endurance running, both on the track and in city marathons but more than 40 of its athletes have been banned for doping in the past three years. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has given Kenya until April 5 to prove it can successfully tackle the doping issue, or face exclusion from the Rio Olympics.
