Nagorno-Karabakh, which lies inside Azerbaijan but is controlled by ethnic Armenians, has run its own affairs with heavy military and financial backing from Armenia since a separatist war ended in 1994. Armenia's government denied the Azeri report on the number of casualties but declined to disclose Saturday's toll of deaths and injuries.

The Wider Image: Islamic State driven out of Syria's ancient PalmyraBy Lisa Barrington BEIRUT (Reuters) - Syrian troops have identified 45 bodies so far in a mass grave found in the city of Palmyra after it was recaptured from Islamic State, a military source told Reuters on Saturday. Syrian government forces backed by heavy Russian air support drove Islamic State out of Palmyra last Sunday, inflicting what the army called a mortal blow to militants who had dynamited the city's ancient temples. The communal grave, on the north-eastern edge of Palmyra, is the only one found so far in the city by the Syrian forces, the source said.

Belgian charged with terrorism over foiled attack plot
10:57:46 AM
A Belgian national named only as Y.A. was charged on Saturday with participating in the activities of a terrorist group in connection with a joint Belgian-French investigation into an apparently foiled attack plot. Federal prosecutors said in a statement that the 33-year-old had appeared on Friday before a judge, who had remanded him to custody. Prosecutors said the charge related to the investigation into Reda Kriket, a Frenchman arrested in a Paris suburb on March 24, two days after the Brussels bombings, and suspected of planning an imminent act of "extreme violence".
