Of course, the vast majority of England fans had nothing to do with the trouble, though many still enjoyed the thrill of being part of an "invading army", bussed in huge convoys, flags waving to the ever-present backing track chant of "Ingerland".

| California attorney general slams sentence in Stanford sex assault case | |  California Attorney General Kamala Harris, the top vote-getter in the state's U.S. Senate primary, has joined the criticism of a six-month jail sentence given to a former Stanford University swimmer convicted of sexually assaulting an unconscious woman. Harris, speaking to reporters in the San Francisco Bay area on Wednesday, said she was concerned the "victim's voice was not heard" at the trial. "It was not respected, and she was not given dignity in the process," said Harris, a Democrat, according to video from a local television station.

| U.S. accuses Valeant's Salix unit of kickbacks, false claims | | | By Jonathan Stempel NEW YORK (Reuters) - The United States has joined a whistleblower lawsuit accusing the Salix unit of Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc of paying illegal kickbacks to doctors and submitting fraudulent reimbursement claims to the government. In a complaint made public on Thursday in the U.S. District Court in Manhattan, the government said Salix knowingly paid kickbacks to doctors, including monetary payments and lavish meals at restaurants such as Le Bernardin and Nobu, to induce them to prescribe seven of its drugs and medical devices. Salix's alleged improper activity occurred from January 2009 to December 2013, well before Valeant in April 2015 acquired the company for more than $11 billion. |
