Shooting erupts at Florida gay nightclub, 'multiple injuries' - police

Shooting erupted early on Sunday at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida and "multiple" people have been injured, police said. The violence broke out at the Pulse nightclub, Orlando police said on Twitter, advising people to "stay away from area." Local media reported that from seven to as many as 20 people had been shot in the incident, but had no further detail. Video posted online showed a large response by police and emergency vehicles outside the nightclub.


Kazakhstan says all Islamist attack suspects detained

ALMATY (Reuters) - Kazakh security forces detained three men on Sunday suspected of being Islamist militants linked to deadly attacks a week earlier in the city of Akrobe, the National Security Committee said. Everyone linked to the June 5 attacks had now been detained or neutralised, it added, without going into further detail. At least 25 people including 18 attackers died during the assaults on a national guard base and firearms shops, and in the subsequent manhunt. ...


Russian Football Union will probably be fined after Marseille clashes - R-Sport

MOSCOW (Reuters) - The Russian Football Union will probably by fined by UEFA for the behaviour of Russian fans in Marseille, Russia's Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko said on Sunday, R-Sport news agency reported. "We will have a fine from UEFA, so I understand. We behaved incorrectly," Mutko said, adding that Russian officials will investigate what happened and there were "many nuances". Mahathir, who led the country for 22 years until his retirement in 2003, quit the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) earlier this year in disgust over Najib's grip on the party despite allegations of massive corruption. The feisty 90-year-old has teamed up with old foes in the Pakatan Harapan opposition alliance to remove Najib, his one-time protege.




More Marseille mayhem as Russian fans charge rivals

England v Russia - EURO 2016 - Group BBy Mitch Phillips MARSEILLE, France (Reuters) - The Euro 2016 game between Russia and England ended with scenes of mayhem on Saturday as scores of Russian fans charged into a section full of rival supporters, throwing missiles, tearing down flags and fighting with anyone who remained in their way. Thousands of England fans were forced to retreat, many climbing a high fence and pouring into the exit gangways, while a ring of stewards stood on the pitch watching events unfold while taking no action. Groups of Russian fans even advanced from ground level up to the second tier of the vast 67,000-capacity Stade Velodrome before a handful of stewards eventually stepped in to form a ragged cordon.




CIA chief expects release of 9/11 documents to clear Saudi Arabia

CIA Director Brennan speaks at the State Department   in WashingtonCIA chief John Brennan said on Sunday he expects 28 classified pages of a U.S. congressional report into the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States to be published, absolving Saudi Arabia of any responsibility. "I think the 28 pages will be published and I support their publication and everyone will see the evidence that the Saudi government had nothing to do with it," Brennan said in an interview with Saudi-owned Arabiya TV. The withheld section of the 2002 report is central to a dispute over whether Americans should be able to sue the Saudi government, a key U.S. ally, for damages.




'Voice' singer Christina Grimmie fatally shot after Florida show

The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Kevin James Loibl of St. Petersburg, Florida, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after he was tackled by the 22-year-old singer's brother in the Friday evening attack, Orlando police said. Loibl is believed to have traveled to Orlando for the event.
