Dutch police detain man who yelled "Bomb!" on bus but find no threat

Dutch police, on alert for a security threat to Amsterdam's Schiphol airport, on Monday detained a confused man who yelled "Bomb!" on a bus, but found no evidence of a serious threat, a spokeswoman said. Police have been conducting vehicle searches near the airport, one of Europe's largest, since last week after receiving intelligence about a possible threat.

In a supplementary demand for grants laid before parliament by the finance ministry, the government said net cash outgo would be 209.48 billion rupees. The Royal Commission will now be conducted by two commissioners, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner Mick Gooda and retired Supreme Court judge Margaret White, Attorney-General George Brandis said Monday. Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull ordered the probe last week, after prison CCTV footage showed guards teargassing six aboriginal teenage inmates and strapping a half-naked, hooded boy to a chair at a Darwin youth prison in the Northern Territory. The footage sparked renewed criticism of Australia's treatment of Aborigines and their high imprisonment rate.

Anadolu said the fugitives were caught in the Ula district of Mugla province after gendarmerie special forces, supported by helicopters and drones, were sent to the area after a tip-off from a local.




Gunman in Austin, Texas, kills one woman, wounds three - officials

A gunman killed a woman and seriously wounded three others in Austin early on Sunday when he shot into a crowd leaving nightclubs in the Texas capital's downtown area, police said. The gunman opened fire at about 2:15 a.m. local time before fleeing, Austin police chief of staff Brian Manley told reporters. "It was a very chaotic scene," Manley said.

Victoria state Police Commissioner Graham Ashton said on a Melbourne radio station program on Thursday that Victoria police had been investigating allegations against Pell for more than a year. Victims groups have called on the pope to sack Pell, the highest-ranking Vatican official to be accused of sexual abuse, or for him to resign.

"I think it is not right to identity Islam with violence," he told reporters aboard the plane taking him back to Rome after a five-day trip to Poland. "This is not right and this is not true." Francis was responding to a question about the killing on July 26 of an 85-year-old Roman Catholic priest by knife-wielding attackers who burst into a church service in western France, forced the priest to his knees and slit his throat.
