Brazil investigators say Greek ambassador murder by wife's lover

RIO DE JANEIRO (Reuters) - Brazilian investigators said on Friday that a policeman in Rio de Janeiro confessed to stabbing to death the Greek ambassador at the direction of the diplomat's wife, who was the officer's lover. The wife, the policeman and the officer's cousin - who acted as a lookout and helped transfer the ambassador's body - are all being held in jails as the investigation continues, the investigators told a news conference in Rio. Kennedy relative's conviction in 1975 murder is restored

(Reuters) - A divided Connecticut Supreme Court on Friday reinstated the 2002 murder conviction of Michael Skakel, a relative of the Kennedy family, in the 1975 murder of his neighbour Martha Moxley. By a 4-3 vote, the court rejected a 2013 ruling by a lower court judge that Skakel's trial lawyer did not provide an adequate defence, and that Skakel should be retried. Hubert Santos, a lawyer for Skakel who argued that the 2013 ruling was correct, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.


Senator McCain says Russia must pay price for hacking

"It is not possible to hold a referendum that will do away with national sovereignty and the equality of Spaniards," Rajoy told a year-end news conference, adding he was open to talks over other issues but the law was clear that a referendum was illegal.

Sik works for Cumhuriyet, one of the few newspapers still critical of the government after Turkey purged tens of thousands of people, largely from the state apparatus, in the wake of a coup attempt last July. The Finnish national had stopped in front of the group in September and spat on the ground. A member of the group, Jesse Torniainen, kicked the man in the chest and he fell to the ground and hit his head.
