| Pistorius freed on parole after year behind bars for killing girlfriend | |  By TJ Strydom PRETORIA (Reuters) - Oscar Pistorius, South Africa's "Blade Runner", was released on parole late on Monday, just short of a year into his five-year sentence for killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine's Day 2013. Pistorius, 28, who was found guilty of the lesser charge when he fired four shots through a locked bathroom door and hit Steenkamp, will be confined to his uncle Arnold's home in a wealthy suburb of the capital, Pretoria. Pistorius was freed on Monday evening, taking media by surprise.

"This is not about enforcing an extraordinary condition, it is about strengthening control on the border," Prime Minister Miro Cerar told the national radio Radio Slovenia. The government has not given details of the proposed changes to the law, but issued a statement stressing Slovenia's lack of capacity to deal with the influx and calling on fellow EU countries to help.

| Bus blast kills 11 in Pakistan's Baluchistan province | |  The bomb exploded as the bus was bound for the city suburbs, carrying dozens of passengers home from work, police official Abdul Waheed Khattak said. Baluchistan province has seen almost a decade of separatist violence against government personnel and security forces as well as non-Baluch ethnic groups. Immigration Minister Peter Dutton accused lawyers of fabricating stories about the treatment of the woman, who human rights advocates said was denied basic medical attention and likened her removal from Australia to CIA-style rendition. Australia has decided to take 12,000 refugees from Syria on top of its current humanitarian intake quota.
