Choi Soon-sil returned to South Korea early on Sunday from Germany, where she had been staying, her lawyer told reporters. "Choi has expressed through her attorney that she will actively respond to prosecutors' investigation and will testify according to the facts," Lee Kyung-jae, her lawyer, said on Sunday morning.

|  Miami Marlins star Jose Fernandez, a dominant pro baseball pitcher and hero in Miami's Cuban community, was legally drunk and had cocaine in his system when he was killed in a boat crash in late September, an autopsy and toxicology report released on Saturday found. The toxicology report showed Fernandez had a blood-alcohol content level of 0.147, nearly twice the legal limit of 0.08 for driving in Florida, and also had cocaine in his blood. Fernandez, 24, and two other men were killed before dawn on Sept. 25 when their 32-foot boat struck a rock jetty off Miami Beach, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

The Met said on its Facebook page that it also canceled the Saturday evening performance of "L'Italiana in Algeri," while police investigate the incident. There were no reports of any injuries or any harmful reaction to the unidentified substance, though the theater was evacuated, and the New York Police Department dispatched a special unit to investigate the incident, Officer Tiffany Phillips said. |

|  Support for the Icelandic Pirate Party in parliamentary elections has turned out lower than anticipated, making it less likely that the anti-establishment party would be part of a new government, early election results showed on Sunday. Icelanders had looked set to oust the governing centre-right government in its current form, though ruling coalition partner the Independence Party, took a strong lead. Both the Independence Party and the Pirate Party have ruled out working together, however, though this could change during negotiations in the days to come.

|  The Indian army said it had destroyed four Pakistani military posts on Saturday along its contested border, the latest escalation of tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbours. The attack comes a day after India and Pakistan traded accusations that each had killed civilians in cross-border shelling in the Kashmir region, which is claimed in its entirety by both countries but controlled in part by each. Heavy casualties inflicted," the Indian army's Northern Command said in a statement on its Twitter account late on Saturday.
