Pistorius' mother died when he was 15. JUNE STEENKAMP Reeva Steenkamp's mother June will be at the start of the trial on March 3, although she will be without her horse-trainer husband, Barry, who is recovering from a stroke at the family's home in the coastal city of Port Elizabeth.

Maduro, 51, seems to have weathered the worst of an explosion of protests against his socialist government that exposed deep discontent with Venezuela's economic problems and brought the nation's worst unrest in a decade. Some students are still setting up roadblocks and clashing with police in Caracas and western Tachira state. But numbers have dropped, and many Venezuelans have begun heading for the beach to enjoy a long weekend for Carnival celebrations.

The protesters have been trying since November to push out Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and eradicate the political influence of her brother, ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra, seen as the real power in Thailand. "We will stop closing Bangkok and give every intersection back to Bangkokians. We will stop closing Bangkok from Monday," protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban told supporters on Friday.




Two Delhi brothers shot dead in road rage

Sahab Singh, 40, and Kaptan Singh, 35, were shot when the vehicle they were travelling in was reportedly stopped near their house in Bawana area by a man in a car at 10.30 a.m. The man was furious as one of the victims did not allow him to overtake their car. A neighbour of the victims told police that the duo had left for work and a few metres away from their home, the occupants of a car stopped them and got into a verbal argument over the issue of overtaking.


Hospital told to pay Rs.20 lakh to sanitation worker's kin

Noida, Feb 28 (IANS) A hospital here was Friday ordered to pay Rs.20 lakh to the family of a sanitation worker who died while cleaning a manhole opposite the hospital. The National Commission for Safai Karamcharis (NCSK) ordered the ESI Hospital Noida to pay Rs.20 lakh to the family of Babloo, who died Feb 24.


Kirori Mal College building under Delhi HC scanner

BMW hit-and-run accused permitted to go abroad

New Delhi, Feb 28 (IANS) A court here has allowed Utsav Bhasin, who is facing trial in the 2008 BMW hit-and-run case, to visit Europe for 14 days. Bhasin, son of a Haryana-based industrialist, was driving his BMW car when he allegedly hit a two-wheeler on Delhi's Moolchand flyover, killing rider Anuj Singh in September 2008.


Dec 16 convicts' statement to be recorded in robbery case

New Delhi, Feb 28 (IANS) A court here Friday fixed March 7 for recording of the statement of the Dec 16 gang rape convicts, accused in a robbery case. The court of Additional Sessions Judge Daya Prakash Jan 10 had concluded looking at the evidence in the robbery case against the gang rape convicts. The court allowed the plea of Vinay Sharma, accused in the case, to appear in an examination March 9 for a clerical job in a government organisation. Sharma, Akshay Thakur, Mukesh and Pawan Gupta are facing trial for allegedly beating up and robbing carpenter Ram Adhar, before raping and assaulting a 23-year-old woman in a moving bus Dec 16, 2012.
