| Zimbabwe court orders deportation former U.S. congressman | | HARARE (Reuters) - A Zimbabwean court on Friday ordered the deportation of former U.S. congressman Mel Reynolds after he pleaded guilty to staying in the southern African country on an expired visa. Reynolds, 62, was arrested at a local hotel on Monday but has denied additional charges of possessing pornographic images and videos. That case was due to continue later on Friday. Harare magistrate Tendai Mahwe fined Reynolds $100 or five days in prison for the visa misdemeanour. His lawyer Arthur Gurira told the court the former Illinois congressman had suffered a mild stroke earlier this year. ...

| Delhi Metro station shut after fire, re-opens | | | New Delhi, Feb 21 (IANS) Delhi Metro travellers faced a tough time Friday when a metro station was shut down for almost half an hour after a fire broke out in a shop within the station premises, an official said. The busy Kashmere Gate metro station was shut down for close to half an hour following the fire. "No interchange facility was available at the Kashmere Gate metro station from 2.05 p.m. to 2.29 p.m. due to the smoke caused by the fire which broke out in a shop at the concourse level of the underground section of the station," the official said. |
| Barcelona innocent of tax fraud, insists club president | | Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu has reiterated the club's innocence of tax fraud in the signing of Neymar and insisted the operation to bring the Brazil forward to the Catalan capital was "completely legal". In the latest twist to a saga that prompted Bartomeu's predecessor, Sandro Rosell, to step down last month, a Madrid court on Thursday charged the Spanish champions with defrauding the tax authority. The club was forced on the defensive after a member filed a complaint against Rosell alleging misappropriation of funds and when details of Neymar's move from Santos to Barca came to light the judge overseeing the case granted the public prosecutor's request to lay charges for tax fraud.

| Gurgaon woman killed in daylight robbery attempt | | | Gurgaon, Feb 21 (IANS) A 37-year-old woman was Friday murdered in her house here during a robbery attempt, police said. The victim was identified as Sanjeeta Hooda, a housewife. "Four to five men entered the house on Friday at around 8 a.m. and strangled her to death," a senior police officer told IANS. "Prima facie, the matter seems to be a robbery attempt, but we are also investigating if there was a family dispute as the victim had no children after more than 15 years of marriage," the officer said. |

Kanpur's Director General of Police R.K. Chaturvedi told IANS that the incident took place Thursday at Neelam hotel in Collectorganj area. Sub-inspector Anil Sisodiya, of the 2013 batch of UP Police Service, went to the hotel with some of his friends and after ordering dinner, began to drink liquor. |
| Beauty queen the latest victim in Venezuela unrest | | A local beauty queen died of a gunshot wound on Wednesday, the fifth fatality from Venezuela's political unrest, as imprisoned protest leader Leopoldo Lopez urged supporters to keep fighting for the departure of the socialist government. Tensions have risen in Venezuela since Lopez, a 42-year-old Harvard-educated economist, turned himself in to troops on Tuesday after spearheading three weeks of often rowdy protests against President Nicolas Maduro's government. The latest victims of the unrest included college student and model Genesis Carmona, 22, who was shot in the head at a protest on Tuesday in the central city of Valencia. Three people were shot dead in Caracas after an opposition rally a week ago, and a fourth person died after being run over by a car during a demonstration in the coastal town of Carupano.

| Man who butchered three nieces in Andhra commits suicide | | | Hyderabad, Feb 21 (IANS) A man, who brutally murdered three nieces, committed suicide by jumping into a river in Andhra Pradesh, police said. The body of 38-year-old Narender Reddy was found in Godavari river at Basar in Adilabad district Friday. The girls, granddaughters of a Congress leader Raghupati Reddy in Dhoopally village of Nizamabad district, were attending the marriage of a relative when Narender kidnapped them. They were daughters of three sons of Raghupati Reddy. |
