Woman stabbed to death in Maharashtra train

Mumbai, March 22 (IANS) A woman commuter was stabbed to death inside the luggage coach of a moving train in Maharashtra early Saturday, officials said. The woman, identified as Panga J. Andheri, aged around 55, boarded the Virar-Churchgate suburban train around 4 a.m. with a bundle of vegetables. According to Government Railway Police officials in Vasai, as the train picked up speed, an unidentified person jumped into the compartment and repeatedly stabbed the woman with a knife.


Lions Club president held in Odisha for boat mishap

Bhubaneswar, March 22 (IANS) A Lions Club president was arrested Saturday in Odisha's Sambalpur district in connection with the Feb 9 boat tragedy that killed 31 people, police said. Police arrested Ramesh Kumar Agarwal, president of the local Lions Club after some victims complained that Agarwal organised the boat ride without ensuring safety to the members, Prateek Mohanty, district superintendent of police told IANS. Agrawal based at the district headquarters town of Sambalpur, was also accused of forcing the boatmen to carry all the club members beyond the capacity of the boat, Mohanty said.

Patna, March 22 (IANS) A man was burnt alive in Bihar's Kaimur district over an alleged land dispute, police said Saturday.


Australia mulls extradition of alleged Silk Road moderator

The Australian government said it is deciding whether to extradite to the United States an alleged moderator of Silk Road, a website where people buy illegal drugs like heroin and cocaine using digital currency bitcoin. Peter Phillip Nash, 41, from Australia's Queensland state, and two other men were charged with conspiracy to engage in narcotics trafficking, computer hacking and money laundering in relation to the website in December. On Saturday, a spokeswoman for Australian Attorney-General George Brandis confirmed Nash appeared before a court in Queensland on Friday where he formally waived extradition rights.
