| Japanese parents of North Korea abductee meet granddaughter | | | The parents of a Japanese girl who was abducted by North Korea more than three decades ago met their child's daughter for the first time last week, Japan's Foreign Ministry said on Sunday. North Korea admitted in 2002 that it had kidnapped 13 Japanese nationals in the 1970s and 1980s to help train spies and said eight of them had died, including Megumi Yokota, who was abducted in 1977 on her way home from school at the age of 13. The Foreign Ministry said Yokota's parents spent several days with their 26-year old granddaughter, Kim Eun Gyong, in the Mongolian capital of Ulan Bator, a venue Japanese and North Korean officials often use for unofficial contacts. Kim's father was a South Korean man who was also abducted to North Korea. |
| Guerrilla caught after infiltration into Kashmir | | | Jammu, March 16 (IANS) A separatist guerrilla was arrested Sunday after he crossed the Line of Control (LoC) into Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district. A defence spokesman told IANS, Muhammad Ashfaq, a guerrilla, was arrested from Digwar border village Saturday night after he infiltrated from across the LoC, jointly guarded by the army and the state police. "The guerrilla has been identified as a local named Muhammad Ashfaq who crossed the LoC into Pakistan side for obtaining weapons training in 2011 and now attempted his comeback to join the terrorist ranks," said the spokesman. |

Officials said the fire started on the 11th floor and then spread to the 12th terrace floor of Gulmohar Building in Sundervan Complex. Two senior citizens -- Shivajirao Choughule, 82, and his wife Nirmala, 78 -- were killed in the fire, and two others on a lower floor were injured while attempting to escape. |

| Los Angeles man arrested over Twitter threat to shoot random pedestrian | |  A 20-year-old man has been arrested in Los Angeles after writing on Twitter that he would shoot a random pedestrian if people retweeted his message 100 times on the social media website, police said on Friday. Dakkari Dijon McAnuff posted a photo on his Twitter account earlier this week of a rifle resting on what appeared to be an upper floor balcony railing, pointed down at a darkened street, police said. McAnuff posted, "100 RT's (retweets) and I'll shoot someone walking," according to police, who did not say if the message had been retweeted 100 times. McAnuff was arrested on Wednesday at his downtown Los Angeles home, where they found an air rifle but not a gun, police said.
