| Egypt court sentences 10 Brotherhood supporters to death-sources | | | An Egyptian court sentenced 10 supporters of the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood to death in absentia on Saturday but postponed sentencing of its leader and other senior members tried in the case, judicial sources said. Those sentenced were convicted on charges including inciting violence and blocking a major road north of Cairo during protests after the army toppled Islamist President Mohamed Mursi last July. All 10 were assumed to be in hiding amid a state crackdown on the group since Mursi's ouster. One of those sentenced was Abdul Rahman al-Barr, a member of the Brotherhood's Guidance Council, the movement's executive board. |
| UK police release Pakistani politician as investigations continue | |  British police have released exiled Pakistani politician Altaf Hussain on bail following his arrest four days ago which sent Pakistan's largest city Karachi into lockdown amid fears of violence. Hussain, 60, one of the most divisive and feared figures in Pakistan, was arrested on Tuesday at his north London home on suspicion of money laundering. Wanted in Pakistan in connection with a murder case, he has been living in self-imposed exile in Britain since the early 1990s. A police statement on Saturday said the man arrested on Tuesday had been released on bail.

Kerri Kasem will oversee the care given to her 82-year-old father said Danny Deraney, a representative for the deejay's three children from his first marriage. The deejay's health care and visitation rights has been at the center of a legal tussle between his children from his first marriage - Kerri, Julie and Mike - and his second wife, Jean Kasem, with whom he has one child, Liberty. Deraney said the deejay's health was declining on Friday. |
| Accused Seattle gunman suffers severe mental illness, his lawyer says | |  By Bill Rigby SEATTLE (Reuters) - The man accused of killing one person and wounding two others in a shooting spree at a small Christian college in Seattle suffers from "significant and long-standing mental health issues" that were a factor in the tragedy, his lawyer said on Friday. Speaking to reporters after a court hearing in which a judge ordered the suspect, Aaron Ybarra, 26, held without bail on suspicion of first-degree murder and assault, defense attorney Ramona Brandes also said her client had been involuntarily committed in the past because of mental illness. She added that Ybarra was sorry for the victims' pain. The probable-cause statement filed in court by prosecutors said Ybarra confessed to police detectives that he was the gunman in Thursday's incident, that he had been planning a mass shooting and wanted to kill as many people as possible before taking his own life.

U.S. warns about traffic-sign hackers | | | By Jim Finkle BOSTON (Reuters) - After hackers played several high-profile pranks with traffic signs, including warning San Francisco drivers of a Godzilla attack, the U.S. government advised operators of electronic highway signs to take "defensive measures" to tighten security. Last month, signs on San Francisco's Van Ness Ave were photographed flashing "Godzilla Attack! Turn Back" and highway signs across North Carolina were tampered with last week to read "Hack by Sun Hacker." The Department of Homeland Security's Industrial Control Systems Cyber Emergency Response Team, or ICS-CERT, this week advised cities, highway operators and other customers of digital-sign maker Daktronics Inc to take "defensive measures" to minimize the possibility of similar attacks. |
