MADRID (Reuters) - The president of Spain's Catalonia region on Sunday said he would formally call "in the next days" for a vote on independence from Spain which has been scheduled for Nov. 9. The Catalan parliament passed a law on Friday enabling regional head Artur Mas to call such a vote, though the Spanish government has said it would violate the Spanish constitution and has pledged to block it in the courts. | MANCHESTER (Reuters) - Alan Henning, a volunteer British aid worker being held by Islamic State (IS) militants, should be released unharmed, his wife said in a statement issued a week after his captors threatened to murder him. Henning, 47, was part of an aid convoy taking medical supplies to a hospital in northwest Syria in December last year when it was stopped by gunmen and he was abducted.
