By Jeff Mason WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A man jumped over the White House fence and ran for several seconds towards the executive mansion on Friday, sparking an evacuation within the complex shortly after President Barack Obama and his daughters departed for the weekend. Journalists and staff were allowed back on to the grounds some time later but a partial lockdown of the northwest side of the building remained in place. Video showed the intruder running across the White House lawn toward the president's residence. The U.S. Secret Service has not commented on the incident. ...

By James Pearson SEOUL (Reuters) - An American recently sentenced to six years hard labour by a North Korean court pretended to have secret U.S. information and was deliberately arrested in a bid to become famous and meet U.S. missionary Kenneth Bae in a North Korean prison, state media said on Saturday. Matthew Miller, 25, of Bakersfield, California, had prepared his story in advance and written in a notebook that he was seeking refuge after failing in an attempt to collect information about the U.S. government, state media said. ...

By Jeff Mason WASHINGTON (Reuters) - White House staff and reporters were evacuated on Friday night by the Secret Service because an intruder was spotted running on the grounds of the complex shortly after President Barack Obama had left the building, witnesses said. Obama had just left aboard the Marine One helicopter for Camp David, the presidential retreat in nearby Maryland, when armed, uniformed Secret Service personnel ordered the press corps and members of the White House staff to evacuate.
