| More than 1,000 march in Baltimore to protest black man's death | |  By Lacey Johnson BALTIMORE (Reuters) - More than 1,000 demonstrators chanting "shut it down" marched through Baltimore on Saturday to protest the death of a black man who died after being taken into police custody. Baltimore's police commissioner said on Friday that Freddie Gray, 25, had been denied timely medical attention for a spinal injury suffered after police apprehended him following a foot chase.Police have not explained how he sustained the injury. At least 1,500 people had gathered by midafternoon at the spot in West Baltimore where Gray had been detained on April 12 by a police patrol and placed inside a transport van.

| Israeli forces kill two knife-wielding Palestinians - police | |  By Allyn Fisher-Ilan JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israeli security forces killed two knife-wielding Palestinian attackers in separate incidents in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem on Saturday, police said. In the West Bank city of Hebron, a Palestinian was shot dead by a paramilitary Israeli border police patrol after stabbing one of its men in the head and chest, police spokeswoman Luba Samri said. Earlier, 17-year-old Palestinian Ali Abu Ghannam attacked Israeli border police with a cleaver at a checkpoint in East Jerusalem and then fled, with troops giving chase and firing warning shots in the air, Samri said. Reaching a second checkpoint, Abu Ghannam drew another knife and ran toward security guards there.

| Indonesia informs death row convicts execution just days away | | | By Heru Aspirhanto CILACAP, Indonesia (Reuters) - Indonesia has informed two Australians, one Nigerian and four other death-row drug convicts that they will be executed in a matter of days, possibly as soon as Tuesday. The Attorney General's office said notices that they would face a firing squad after 72 hours were delivered to the seven on the prison island of Nusakambangan, despite last-minute appeals for clemency from the Australian government and others. "There is no date specified for the execution, but families will have time to visit Nusakambangan until Tuesday 2 p.m., this could mean that it will be carried out on later on Tuesday, probably in the evening or after midnight." Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran, two Australians arrested as ringleaders of the 'Bali Nine' drug-smuggling group, were among the seven, lawyers said. Indonesia has harsh punishments for drug crimes and resumed executions in 2013 after a five-year gap. |

| Three Islamic State car bombs hit Iraq-Jordan border crossing, four dead | | | BAGHDAD/AMMAN (Reuters) - Three suicide car bombs exploded at a border crossing between Iraq and Jordan on Saturday, killing four soldiers, a witness and an Iraqi border police source said, in an attack claimed shortly afterwards by Islamic State. The Islamic State militant group claimed responsibility for the attack in a video, saying it had targeted a government complex, control point for the border crossing, and army patrol, according to monitoring group SITE. The Iraqi government announced a new offensive this month to recapture parts of Anbar, Iraq's Sunni Muslim heartland, from Islamic State, but the Sunni militants struck back by attacking Ramadi, the Baiji refinery, and al-Thirthar dam. |
