| Big business on winning side in U.S. top court's major rulings | |  By Lawrence Hurley WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Big business was on the winning side in the U.S. Supreme Court's two major cases of the year, with hundreds of employers pushing hard in favor of gay marriage and the healthcare industry backing the insurance subsidies available under Obamacare. The court on Thursday rejected a conservative challenge to President Barack Obama's healthcare law on a 6-3 vote and, a day later, ruled 5-4 that gay marriage should be legal nationwide. Both cases were largely seen through the lens of national ideological wars, with liberals backing gay marriage and Obamacare and conservatives opposing them.

| French police question delivery man over beheading | |  By Michel Rose LYON, France (Reuters) - French authorities are questioning a 35-year-old delivery man of North African origin over a suspected Islamist attack involving the beheading of his boss and an attempt to blow up a U.S.-owned chemicals plant in southeastern France. President Francois Hollande, dealing with new security fears less than six months after 17 people were killed by Islamist gunmen at satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo and a Jewish foodstore in Paris, said the incident clearly amounted to a terrorist attack. Yassim Salhi is suspected of having rammed his delivery van into a warehouse of gas containers, triggering an initial explosion.

| Kuwait arrests suspects in mosque attack, mourns dead | |  By Ahmed Hagagy KUWAIT (Reuters) - Kuwait's interior ministry said on Saturday it had detained amongst others the owner of a vehicle which a suicide bomber used to get to a Shi'ite Muslim mosque where he blew himself up, killing 27 and wounding 200 people mid-prayer. Militant group Islamic State claimed responsibility for the country's worst militant attack on Friday, one of three attacks on three continents that day apparently linked to hardline Islamists. The interior ministry said it was now looking for the driver who vanished shortly after Friday's blast in Kuwait, which has been spared the rampant violence in neighbouring Iraq and recent spate of Islamic State bombings of Shi'ite mosques in Saudi Arabia, another neighbour.

| Blatter tells Swiss paper 'not a candidate for FIFA presidency' | |  FIFA president Sepp Blatter said in a newspaper interview on Saturday that he will not stand as a candidate to remain the head of world soccer's governing body at a special elective congress of member associations which he called for earlier this month. The comments come a day after Blatter told Swiss daily newspaper Blick that he had not resigned, attempting to distinguish between stepping down and giving up his mandate at the as yet unscheduled special congress. A FIFA source later told Reuters that meant that Blatter still intends to stand down as FIFA president.

| Kuwait says detains owner of vehicle that took bomber to mosque | |  DUBAI (Reuters) - Kuwait has detained the owner of the vehicle that took a suicide bomber to a Shi'ite Muslim mosque where he detonated explosives, killing 27 people, state media reported on Saturday. The interior ministry said it was now looking for the driver of the Japanese-made car, who left the mosque immediately after Friday's bombing, Kuwait television and the official KUNA news agency reported. | British tour operators evacuate thousands of tourists from Tunisia | |  TUNIS/LONDON (Reuters) - British tourist companies were evacuating thousands of foreign holidaymakers from Tunisia on Saturday, a day after a gunman killed 39 people as they lounged at the beach in an attack claimed by Islamic State. Tunisia's Prime Minister Habib Essid said most of the dead were Britons, and British leader David Cameron said the number of British casualties was likely to rise from the five already confirmed dead. German and Belgian tourists were among other casualties in the attack on Friday at the Imperial Marhaba hotel in Sousse, 140 km (90 miles) south of the capital Tunis.

| Bill Cosby's lawyer says revealing court documents would cause "embarrassment" | |  A lawyer for Bill Cosby argued that unsealing court documents from a 2005 Pennsylvania sexual assault case filed against the comedian would cause severe "embarrassment," court records show. Attorney George Gowen asked in a motion filed in federal court on Wednesday to keep under seal records from the case brought by Andrea Constand, who alleged Cosby tricked her into consuming drugs before he sexually assaulted her. Gowen wrote that Cosby had explained in a previous filing that "his embarrassment at the release of the discovery motions - deposition excerpts about sex, money, health, and marriage - would be severe." While Constand's case was settled for an undisclosed sum years ago, the Associated Press has asked the court to release the documents.

| Chinese mayor sacked after official dies from alcohol poisoning | | | A mayor from China's central Hunan province and other officials have been sacked or reprimanded after one of their colleagues died from excessive alcohol consumption at an extravagant business dinner, the provincial graft watchdog said. The mayor and deputy Communist Party chief of Yongzhou city, Xiang Shuguang, was dismissed from his post, the province's Commission for Discipline Inspection said on its website on Friday. Other officials were either sacked or received warnings after a female colleague died following the April 29 dinner. |
