 A Polish court which is to rule on film-maker Roman Polanski's extradition to the United States over a 1977 child sex conviction said on Wednesday it had not received requested legal help from the United States before a deadline expired. This may prove a potential stumbling block in the legal case. At a sitting in May, the court said it had requested further information from the U.S. authorities by Aug. 8, and adjourned the case until mid-September.

Clinton's use of her private email for her work as America's top diplomat came to light in March and drew fire from political opponents who accused her of sidestepping transparency and record-keeping laws. For months, Republican lawmakers have demanded that Clinton relinquish the server for inspection by an independent party, which Clinton said she was not willing to do.

 A South Korean man in his eighties set himself on fire on Wednesday during a protest calling for Japan to apologise for forcing Korean women to work in military brothels during World War Two, days ahead of the anniversary of the end of hostilities. The self-immolation came during a regular weekly demonstration outside the Japanese embassy ahead of the Aug. 15 anniversary marking 70 years since the end of Japan's colonial occupation of the Korean peninsula. With the anniversary looming, the protest was larger than normal, with about 2,000 demonstrators, including three of the 47 known surviving Korean "comfort women", as they were euphemistically called by Japan, organisers said.
