Trains and buses ferried in protesters from around Italy to take part in the event, staged in Ancient Rome's famed chariot racing stadium. A group of black-clad Roman Catholic priests danced the conga, while children rushed around the grassy arena.




Egypt says made no arrests in connection to Russian plane crash

Sources familiar with the matter had told Reuters on Friday that an EgyptAir mechanic whose cousin joined Islamic State in Syria is suspected of planting a bomb on the plane and had been arrested along with two airport policemen and a baggage handler suspected of helping him put the bomb on board. "Contrary to recent media speculation, we can categorically confirm that there have been no arrests in connection to the ongoing investigations into the causes of the Metrojet crash," the Interior Ministry said.




Masked mob threatening migrants go on the rampage in Stockholm

By Sven Nordenstam STOCKHOLM (Reuters) - A gang of masked, black-clad men rampaged through the streets of Stockholm on Friday night handing out leaflets threatening to attack migrant street youths, "to make a statement", with police saying on Saturday two arrests had been made. The incident highlights the growing tensions over immigration in Sweden, a country of 10 million which received 163,000 asylum seekers last year, and comes days after a 22-year old female worker was stabbed to death in a centre for unaccompanied asylum-seeking minors in southwestern Sweden.


U.N. chief tells African leaders not to "cling to power"

Secretary General Ban Ki-moon told African leaders on Saturday they should not use legal loopholes or undemocratic constitutional changes to "cling to power", and that they should respect term limits. Ban was addressing a two-day summit the African Union, a group of 54 states where several leaders have been in power for decades, some have changed constitutions so they can stay on and others are accused of seeking to remove limits. The debate about term limits has gained momentum after triggering unrest in places such as Burundi and Congo Republic.




Swiss drop investigation of two men arrested in Geneva

Switzerland has dropped an investigation of two men of Syrian origin arrested in Geneva last month over traces of explosives found in their car, the attorney general said on Saturday. Criminal proceedings were opened against the two under a law prohibiting groups such as al Qaeda and Islamic State.
