"We will not stop until we can bring our fellow citizens back to their families," Obama said in a statement on the anniversary of the White House's policy review. Obama specifically named journalist Austin Tice who disappeared in Syria in 2012, Caitlan Coleman held in Afghanistan, and retired FBI agent Robert Levinson, who went missing in Iran more than nine years ago.

The so-called Erskine Fire broke out on Thursday afternoon in the foothills of Kern County about 42 miles (68 km) northeast of Bakersfield, and three firefighters were hospitalized for smoke inhalation, officials said. The fire has led hundreds of residents to evacuate and the Kern County Fire Department said on Friday afternoon two people had died, though it did not identify the people or release further details.

| Global doping agency suspends Rio lab weeks before Olympics | |  By Pedro Fonseca RIO DE JANEIRO (Reuters) - The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has suspended the credentials of a testing laboratory in Rio de Janeiro for failing to comply with international standards, just over a month before the city hosts the Olympic Games. Although the suspension adds to embarrassments for Brazil in the run-up to the Olympics, it is unlikely to affect the Games since the agency has arranged testing elsewhere, as it did when the same Rio lab lost its credentials before the 2014 World Cup. The lab at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro said on Friday that its operations should return to normal in July after a technical visit from WADA, ahead of the start of the Games on Aug. 5.

| Chicago loses 'Star Wars' museum project - mayor | |  By Fiona Ortiz CHICAGO (Reuters) - Filmmaker George Lucas has decided not to put his "Star Wars" museum in Chicago due to legal challenges over the proposed location on the shore of Lake Michigan, Mayor Rahm Emanuel said on Friday in a statement. Emanuel was a booster of the museum proposal, which was announced two years ago, saying it would bring jobs, investment and tourism to the city. Emanuel said the museum would have been a $1.5 billion gift to Chicago.
